We hope all of your celebrations have been fantastic and your start to the New Year, an amazing one.

Karen Shady

Hi, my name is Karen. I live with my husband Chris and 5 children, Ashlee, Matthew, Samuel, Jack and Harrison, in Victoria, Australia, where we own and run a large cropping farm. I love farm life, and wouldn’t want to bring my children up anywhere else in the world.. In a former life, I was a nurse, but I am very fortunate now to be a stay at home Mum.

I am completely obsessed with scrapbooking, and spend any spare time I have in my little scrap room. I started scrapbooking about 10 years ago. My Grandmother had recently passed away, and had left us with a huge box of old photos, we didn’t know who half the people were in the photos, and I found it very sad that these people were my family, and I would never know them, or their stories. I didn’t want that to happen to my family photos and stories after I was gone. Not long after that, I stumbled on a scrapbook magazine in a newsagency, and the rest is history. My only regret is I didn’t start scrapping earlier, when my eldest child was a baby, it certainly would have changed the way I took photos.

My scrapping style has evolved and changed a lot, and is still changing. I suppose if I had to give it a name, I would say “shabby chic vintage” I love fussy cutting, flowers and bling, and am especially fond of creating my own embellishments. I love the world of online scrapbook galleries, blogs and challenge sites, and have met some amazing women online, who I now consider to be very dear friends.

I am very fortunate to be on 2 magazine design teams, “Scrapbook magazine UK” and “Australian Scrapbook Ideas‘here in Australia. I am a member of Zva Creative and Pencillines design teams; also my local scrapbook store ‘The Imagination Factory’. My work is published regularly in all the Aussie magazines, as well as Creating Keepsakes.

I am very excited and honoured to have been asked to be the guest designer for Get Picky in January. Thanks so much Nikki and Tanya.

New Year’s Challenge!

Our challenge this month is to think about what we might resolve to do in the coming New Year. Your multi-photo layout can share whatever aspect you might like to focus on for the coming new year. It might be your New year’s resolutions, a bucket list, things to do, place you’d like to go, ideas for your life – family.....Share your thoughts, hopes and dreams in whichever way you please.. we can’t wait to see your creations.
Here is a little poem that may inspire you to think of what you'd like your coming year to be.
From all of us here at Get Picky, we hope your year is filled with many of the gorgeous sentiments written below and we look forward to sharing in more of your beautiful creations.

Hi all! My name is Cassandra DeGrace. I live in a town about an hour north of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. I am primarily a scrapbooker though I do dabble in card making, altered art and most recently I have given digital a go.. I started scrapping sporadically, about five years ago. I become an avid scrapper just over 3 years agp and I am fortunate to be designing for Magenta. My favourite scrapping muse, not to mention my biggest supporter and star of most my pages, is my lovely daughter Alexandria, followed by my husband and other family members. While I really enjoy working with sketches, I discovered through Get Picky, that I love inspiration prompts too! Who knew? Introducing Trina McClune

Hi everyone! Trina here. I'm so pleased and excited to be here as part of the Get Picky DT.

I love to use multiple photos on my LO's. I love to let the photos tell a story. What's the saying? A picture is worth 1000 words. So more than one photo on a LO gives so much more! And that's what I love so much about Get Picky.

So a bit about me.....

I started to scrapbook well before I realised it had a name, and when my MIL asked if I’d seen this new shop down the road, it was like I’d finally come home. As they say, the rest is history.

I’ve been scrapping ever since – approx 7.5 years - once my twins started sleeping through the night.

I’ve found it to be not only a wonderful creative outlet, but also a therapeutic way to mull over ideas, and thoughts as I scrap about those I love.

I currently design for Prima Marketing in my second term with them. I’ve loved Prima for so long I can’t imagine a LO of mine without Prima product on it.

I live in NZ with my family of 3 children (Matt and Sarah 7, and Daniel 5) and incredibly supportive husband Andy. We live in the middle of NZ’s largest city and have somehow managed to obtain 6 chickens, a cat, 3 large vege gardens and numerous fruit trees.

Life is full. Life is fun. Life is chaotic. Life is challenging. Life is good.

Here are a couple of my recent multi photo LO's.

This first one was done as part of the challenges over at The Colour Room. I used palette number 73 and two photos of my delightful daughter.

This next one was created for Prima using their colour palette for September. In this instance I've used the same photo twice. One as a highlight and one to subtly add to the LO. By twisting it around, it almost looks like a different photo.

Introducing....Mette Kallander!

Hello all! My name is Mette and I´m 43 years young. I live in a town called Västerås in Sweden with my DH and our son – Adam, 17 years old.

Our two daughters have moved away from home... The oldest one is Mye and she is 22 years old. She lives in Belfast on Northern Ireland with her boyfriend.

Then it´s Emma and she is 20 years old. She lives here in Västerås with her boyfriend.

When I don´t work I love to read a book, look at a movie or spend time with friends and family.

And then I love to scrap!

I´ve been scrapping for 4½ years now and I loved it from moment one, and just keep on loving it more and more.

Scrapbooking is really a wonderful way to save your memories, to document the everyday life and so on.

I´m so honoured to be a part of the DT here at Get Picky, and I can´t wait to start creating!

Hi my name is Kim Jeffress and I am excited to be joining the team here at Get Picky.

I am a SAHM of two little boys aged 4 and 2. I live in beautiful sunny Brisbane. I have been scrapping for about 8 years now. I was so lucky late last year to be invited to join the Creative team for Scrapbooking Memories magazine for 2011, it has been a blast. I am also lucky to be a part of the Hambly Screen prints and CORE'DINATIONS cardstock DT's , as well as some Australian companies including Scrapware chipboard. I love this craft we are all involved in. I scrap 4 or 5 times each week, It sure does keep me busy. I love creating multiphoto layouts that really tell a story. For me that's what Scrapbooking is about.Creating pages (mainly about my boy ) that are meaningful and tell the good and not so good stories of their lives.

I created this layout to remind my self of some of the major world events that have happened in my life.

I created this layout shortly after the Brisbane floods early this year, we spent a lot of time helping the victims of the floods and spent a lot of time talking to our boys about helping others.

Introducing Anna Sigga

I am Anna Sigga and I live in Reykjavik, Iceland along with my handsome fiance Siggi and our two amazing girls. I started scrapbooking in 2005 and I have to admit that I am a serious scrap-a-holic and I love it! :D I love taking photos and I usually end up printing out way to many pics at a time and that's why I love multi-photo layouts. The more the merrier right! ;o)

My style kinda changes as I learn new things but I guess I am a mix of shabby, eclectic and crisp style. Lately I cannot finish a layout without using at least one color mist and I do love my lil' collection of Tim Holtz Distress inks. I am currently designing for Pebbles and my fave kit-club My Scrapbook Nook.

I am so excited to be a part of the Get Picky team and here is to a fab creative journey!

Hi everyone... so thrilled to be joining Get Picky for the month of October and excited to be working amongst some exceptionally talented ladies.

My name is Melinda Spinks and I live on a farm in North East Victoria, Australia. First and foremost I am a farmer's wife and mother to two farm kids who are my life!

Although the paper crafting industry is a relatively new and exciting world that I have ventured into, it is something that I am extremely passionate about, in between running morning tea out to the paddock, feeding the animals, driving the tractor, chasing the kids, cooking etc... LOL! Never a dull moment on the farm! However, when all is still and silent, the kids are in bed and the farmer is exhausted and asleep in his chair next to me... I create! As for a style... well you could say I'm still developing it! I tend to lean toward a whimsical style but that changes with every project.

Hi my name is Chantal Vandenberg, I am happily married to Jason and we have 2 totally gorgeous girls – Lucy (8) and Heidi (3).

I have now been scrapbooking for 3 years. I initially began scrapping as a fun way to preserve my family's memories, but now, it's all this and a whole lot more!

I love experimenting with new techniques as well as "thrashing" the trusty faves! I just enjoy the "ride" when creating a layout and, in a nutshell, I would describe my style as colourful, fun and funky!

Meet our September Guest Designer

Our guest designer this month is Christiane Muller from Germany.

My name is Christiane Müller and I'm living in Northern Germany near the Danish border not far away from the Baltic Sea. In real life I'm working part time as a nurse.
I spent half of my life doing all sorts of crafts.
Then in 2003 I started scrapbooking as a CM-Consultant, but was not satisfied with this. After some research I found several links on the Internet that opened me up for other scrapbooking styles. A year later I learned even more about scrapbooking during my vacation in the USA and I was hooked. For six years now it is my passion.
My style is striking, bright and colorful and like my moods: sometimes simple and clean, sometimes very detailed. I love all kinds of colors and lots of embellishments. My layouts are mostly bilingual and I'm scrapping in 12x12.

As a matter of nature I am focused to scrap about my two sons and my husband. They are my most scrapped subjects. I also love to scrap every-day-pictures and funny situations. But the reason why I do scrapbooking is to capture our lifes history for my children and that's important for me.
In the last years I taught workshops at my local scrapbook store, in Germany, Denmark and Austria.
Currently I'm designing forBo Bunny Press.

Hi Peeps.. my name is Leanne but alot of scrappers will know me as LJ due to the sheer number of Leannes in the scrappin community.. i have been scrapping for about 6 years now and its now become my greatest addiction.. i like to scrap the everyday as well as those special events but most of all i am a HUGE fan of multi-photo layouts.. what better way to tell a story than to use heaps of photos. so me and wallet size prints are more than just friends.. LOL.. For the past year the friends and therapy scrapping provides has been priceless these two amazing parts of our art have helped me through the breakup of my relationship and my new life as a single parent. It’s that time again here at Get Picky and we are looking to welcome some fantastic new artists to our creative family! We would like to extend our design team so if you think you would be perfect, please read on.

Requirements:

· Designers will be required to complete 2 multi-photo layouts per month.

· Designer should have a blog – posting Get Picky layouts and linking back to our blog will be required. The use of any other online gallery / forum / social network to promote Get Picky or share your work is also very much appreciated.

· Designers will be required to leave comments for participants on their entries.

· Designers will also be required to assist in judging and choosing winners for each challenge.

· Australian and International artists are welcome to apply.

Benefits:

· Designers will be listed on our blog and also on a special designer’s page....along with your headshot and links back to your own blog.

This month, we are so very pleased to welcome our special Guest Designer...

Sam Hauzer

My name is Samantha Hauzer, and I live in a gorgeous beachside suburb north of Brisbane, with my two cheeky kids, Jack and Emily. I started scrapping when Em was about 1 year old...so for around 7 years now! I just can't seem to get enough of scrapping, and I do something crafty just about every day. I've been lucky enough to design for some of my favourite manufacturers. At the moment I am on the Imaginisce design team, and was previously on the Kaisercraft and A2Z Scraplets design teams. I love making my own embellishments, and around a year ago my mum and I started up a little blog shop called Purple Pumpkin, selling all sorts of handmade embellishments for scrapbooking. I never would have guessed that it would take off the way it has, and I love it when I see our embellishments popping up on peoples layouts on blogs and in magazines. As much as I love making embellishments though, my first love will always be scrapbooking, and I was thrilled to be asked to be a guest designer and sponsor for Get Picky. Thanks for having me!

Here are some examples of Sam's stunning layouts!

Sam has very generously offered to sponsor a beautiful Purple Pumpkin pack prize for our challenge this month.

Purple Pumpkin sells unique handmade embellishments and embellishment kits especially for scrapbooking. We are probably best known for our fabric covered buttons. These buttons are made with a FLAT back, and are very lightweight, so are perfect for scrapbooking or cardmaking, and there are heaps of designs to choose from. They come in 4 different sizes, ranging from about 18mm for our smallest button, up to approximately 37mm for our largest button.

Since our first sale in July 2010, we have worked really hard to find the best fabrics, and make the cutest embellishments that we can. Hi Everyone, Piradee here from Bangkok, Thailand although I'm currently working and living in Singapore with my dearest hubby. It was when I relocated to Singapore in mid-2008 for work that I discovered and fell in loving with this hobby. For me scrapbooking not only allows me to explore and challenge my creativity but also helps me de-stress after a long day at work. And the best part of it all, are the strolls through my LSS (I think I'm more of a hoarder than a scrapper) - that allows me to be a kid again (in a big candy/well scrapbooking store).

Hi! I'm Camilla Ekman from southern Sweden. I work as a Montessori teacher and when I'm off work I scrapbook. My favourite scrapping subjects are my two children. I have scrapped since 2007 and enjoyed every minute of my hobby. Through scrapbooking I keep my memories alive but above all I get to be creative. It's like therapy. I would say that my style is romantic since I love using flowers, lace and bling on my pages. Layering and clustering are my favourite techniques. When I don't scrap I enjoy books, travelling and spending lots of time with friends. I am so proud and honoured to be a part of the Get Picky team.

Please join us in welcoming Nadia Cannizzo who is guest designing for us here at Get Picky this month.

My name is Nadia Cannizzo, and I live in Sydney Australia. I was born and raised in Greece and moved to Australia when I was 11. I am a mummy to 2, much loved and much wanted little girls and I have been married to my husband for the last 12 years. I am a Primary School teacher and have been teaching for about 11 years. I have been scrapping/papercfrafting officially for just under 2 years now and I have to say I am beyond addicted, and not a day goes past that I don't do something crafty! I mostly create layouts but just recently I have started making cards again and am enjoying the fact they are quicker and easier to make, yet I still feel I have satisfied my creative urge. 2011 is going to be a busy year for me as I will be on the Design Team for My Scrapbook Nook, Color Combos Galore, Kraft It Up , Bird Is the Word, Pretty Paper Petals , The Studio Challenges , Show Us Your Stuff and Let's Capture These Sketches. In March of 2011 I also started by very own sketch challenge blog called Once Upon A ...Sketch. I am SO excited to be asked by these wonderful girls to be Guest Designer at Get Picky, as this has been a favourite challenge blog of mine for a long time. Thank you so much for having me!

Because we have several international scrappers participating in our challenges we again just wanted to remind you all to please check the countdown timer by the linky gadget below to see how long you have left to submit your entries. Just a quick sidenote regarding our last sketch challenge. We made an error and managed to close our challenge a few hours early!!!

We are so very apologetic to anyone who may have been waiting until the final day to include your layout to our challenge. Sometimes the hustle and bustle and absolute 'busy-ness' of life comes first and in many cases, takes precedence over scrapping and as a result things can go astray.

As a way of making amends and apologising again, we have decided that next month we will choose TWO winners for the sketch challenge and let us just say that next month's sponsor is just AWESOME!
